Today our adoption coordinator told us our family dossier is in the hands of the DIA (Department of International Adoption), waiting for approval. After this approval, our agency can file the I-600 with US CIS. The I-600 typically takes 2 months to process. During that 2 months, letters of approval will go back and forth between DIA and POJ (Provincial Department of Justice), "We approve, do you approve? Yes, we approve, do you guys still approve? Yes, we still approve, how about you?" After these approvals are completed, our agency pays the adoption fees on our behalf, and travel arrangements are made. Yay!
This past weekend we met our 2.5 year old cousin Ellianna originally from China. She is a little burst of sunshine, very outgoing and full of energy. Her personality is very different than her quiet Schmidt cousins. I also spent time with my friend's nephew Bryce. He's more like Ellianna, go, go, go. It makes me wonder what Gianna will be like. Will she be shy or outgoing? Will she like Dan at first (the kids often aren't used to adult men) or will it take a while? I told Dan he can wear my blonde wig from Halloween last year for the first few weeks, but he didn't go for it.

Its quite common for babies to be more timid/shy around men then women. Men with facial hair are particularly scary (unless of course Dad has it).
It will be interesting to see her personality emerge. I imagine it will change in the first couple of months that you have her while she is getting to know you and everything else.
How about lack of hair- does that help? ;)
Cmon, I'm sure she'll adore Dan! I'm hapy to hear things are moving along!
How's your jaw?
Georgie
