On Friday, a 732 number flashed across my cellphone that I didn't recognize. Turns out it was our new adoption social worker. This is the third one so far. The first one did our home study, but was in the process of moving to Chicago, so she wasn't very "into it". The second one had some kind of family emergency and had to quit. I think we spoke to her a total of 2 times and never met in person. The new social worker was not up to speed with our case. "OK, it says here they are in the process of advertising Mai, so after 30 days you should get your referral and then its another 4-6 months until travel". It was all I could do to keep from going ballistic. I had to explain to her that this is a RE-advertisement, we got the referral three months ago, and this re-advertisement does NOT re-set our travel wait. But then I start having these anxious thoughts, what if something else goes wrong, what if it IS another 6 months. She'll be 2 years old by then...this is insane, etc, etc.
For your viewing pleasure, here are some photos of my irises that are in full-bloom these days (click for larger image).
And here's one of my pride and joy who is sleeping on my lap as I type.
