good news, bad news

I am feeling very uneasy after reading a recent email from our adoption coordinator. Our agency works with three orphanages in Vietnam. At one orphanage, we are the only international agency licensed, and several new children were recently admitted. In fact, there is an infant that will be matched with a family in September (that could be us). But at the other two, there are several other international agencies licensed and there has been a huge slow-down. The families with dossiers there are at a major disadvantage. Some families have been waiting for 10 months already. So...I have emailed to find out exactly where our dossier is. This could be great news or disappointing news...I almost don't want to know. Like usual, we will just have to wait and see.

Just heard from our social worker: we are at Khanh Hoa. There are 3 dossiers in front of us and there are 3 referrals going out shortly. So, depending on their requested child (gender/age/etc) and the children available, we could get our referral very soon. Of course, they tell us not to get our hopes up, as this does not necessarily mean we are getting a referral soon, unexpected things can happen and the process could still take 4-10 months. Too late, my hopes are up!
