Happy 2008

We said good-bye to 2007 in Florida this year, where the weather was warm and sunny. My brother and his wife live in Gainesville but will be moving to Richmond, VA next year. So this is the last time we can mooch off of them for a FL vacation over the holidays. Jeff and Nancy gave me an awesome ice cream and frozen drink machine for Christmas, so I whipped up some eggnog ice cream and strawberry-pineapple daiquiris. The ice cream was really good in what I called an eggnog float, which is simply thick store-bought eggnog with a generous scoop of eggnog ice cream--great for breakfast or any time of the day.

We went to Epcot for a day to see their Christmas Around the World celebration, but most of the day we spent eating and drinking at the different countries. Jeff and I are sugar-lushes; we had French pastries as an appetizer to our lunch at Morocco and strawberry margaritas in the afternoon. Dan and Nancy are more traditional lushes, sampling Moroccan and German beers. Besides the food, we got to see the Epcot horticulture exhibit, rode the boats at Norway, and tried on some of Norway's finest apparel.
