L'Oreal has mentioned I should consider applying for a transfer to France next year to work with their advanced research team. France? No thanks. Their food is too fatty and their language difficult to pronounce. But, after watching Sicko tonight, where can I sign up? My other option is to become my Canadian friend Teresa's common law wife ;-) Here's my Sicko short list of things my health insurance company has denied (past and present):
1. wheelchair
2. hip MRI
3. enzyme test for CPT I & II activity
4. genetic test for CPT II
5. neuro-opthamologist consult at Will's Eye Hospital in Philly
6. visual field testing
7. ERG for retinopathy
8. brain MRI
9. physical therapy
10. Carnitor (orphan drug for my genetic disease)
Some of these things, we fought and won. Actually the wheelchair is the only thing we fought and won. The other stuff we either paid for out of pocket or skipped. My doctors make borderline fraudulent excuses to get me into physical therapy (God bless them). I'm fighting for Carnitor coverage, but am not optimistic, especially when there are more important drugs out there that millions of people desperately need like Levitra. The diagnostic testing for my visual field loss and night blindness will have to wait until we are in Vietnam where I'll try to get that brain MRI and ERG results to bring back to my neurologist. What an upside down world.

I am already married so I can't help you out. One spouse per person - not one of each sex :)
I can definitely see the appeal of France when it comes to families. I was amazed at what the French get besides the health care.
