Remaining hopeful

In response to Friday's announcement about instability with the Vietnam program, some families (including us) are considering their options should the program close. There are about 17 families on the waiting list for our agency, which means they do not even have their paperwork submitted yet. Our paperwork was submitted 6 months ago and we are next in line at the one orphanage that seems to be running ethically and getting infant referrals. We are hoping to stick it out, having faith that we will receive a referral in the coming weeks and be able to complete the adoption with baby in arms sometime next year. Thanks for everyone's prayers and words of support; it means a lot to us.

Last night we had some friends over for dinner, Teresa from Canada, and Priscilla and Alex with little William. William tried out our easy diner and seemed to like being at the table with the adults. He also liked sucking on the placemats, spilling Teresa's soup, and feeling Dan's strange bald head. At least our baby gear is going to good use!

We just learned tonight that there are only two dossiers at the orphanage our agency will no longer be working with. Although this move will be immediate, our social worker believes this will NOT affect our wait time. This is a big relief :-) I hope that everyone waiting for a baby gets their referral soon.
