Trip to DR

I had three vacation days to burn before the end of May, so we headed to the DR for 5 days of beach fun. Click here to see the whole album. I tried to keep it PG, not too many photos of my white skeleton beach bod and not too many topless shots of Dan. Here are some select photos:

The beach at Punta Cana with Dominican Republic flag. The beaches were white with a pinkish hue, no shells and very little seaweed. The ocean was crystal clear. I spent a lot of time snorkeling Barb-style with my pool flippers and kick board. There were lots of tropical fish to see even right at the hotel beach.

Most of the time we spend relaxing under the cabanas enjoying the all-inclusive beverages and ice cream.

I sat down to pose with this flamingo, pretending to give him a kiss from far away when he actually reached over to peck my lips! This is the action shot.

Here we are on the boat heading off to swim with the sharks. They dropped us off in the ocean where a make-shift shark pen had been constructed out of chain link fence. It was about 8-12 ft deep. There were about 2 dozen nurse sharks ranging from ~4-8 ft in length and a bunch of stingrays too. We also saw squids and went generic snorkeling on the same trip.

Oh, they also put on a native dance show on this shark trip. Rumbon!

Public transportation, these guys are heading home from work building the new highways to connect the airport to the resorts.
