Vietnam Update

Our program coordinator sent out the official word from the US Embassy regarding the status of in-progress adoptions in Vietnam. First, they will stop accepting new dossiers on July 1, 2008. Second, and most importantly, they will allow all adoptions in progress by Sept 1 to be completed. That is great news and means that even if our approval takes longer than anticipated, Gianna will not get trapped in Vietnam. Speaking of taking longer than expected, since Gianna's orphanage has not done ANY international adoptions in many years, they are new to all the paperwork, and are taking a long time to submit her files for approval. The good news is our agency is working very closely with them to make sure everything is completed properly.

Hey Kristen, the jaw is mostly healed--yay! I can eat solids that are chopped up. Next step: sandwiches! Still can't open my jaw wide enough to eat those tasty NJ meatball subs or Italian hoagies, but hopefully in a few more weeks.
