Our agency has been raising funds to equip a new orphanage that just opened in Nha Trang. However, during a recent visit from the US Naval ship Mercy, they donated everything they needed for the orphanage including outdoor playground equipment, set up the electricity and water systems, and funded the construction of the playground and the concrete fence surrounding it. The photo above shows Naval staff with our contact in Vietnam, Hang. This article and blog give more details about everything the Navy staff donated to the people of Khanh Hoa province including much needed medical supplies and services. Even though I'm rather miffed at the US CIS (and the Bush administration) right now, at least some of those trillions of military dollars are going to a great cause. Thank God for the USNS Mercy!

Sometimes the US does the right thing. Wish it were more often.
