Bad Luck

That Alanis Morisette song "Ironic" is on the radio at work and it reminds me of our current situation. Finally we are traveling to pick up Gianna (this Saturday--yay!!!), and I have a broken shoulder (booo!). The doctor called last night to say their compulsory x-rays for the rotator cuff tear showed my scapula is clearly broken near the shoulder joint. How long have I been walking around like this? They kept asking me if I play contact sports or was in a car accident lately. No! I go to orchid shows and play with my 10 lb dog! So I have to go see an orthopedic surgeon ASAP--after we get back from Vietnam. They will likely do surgery to repair the bones (using screws and a plate) and work on any tendons that are torn. But all of that will be up to the surgeon. Someone at Dan's work broke his shoulder in a car accident and went to see the orthopedic surgeon for the NY Rangers. So I'm going to try to get an appointment there. They can't start physical therapy until after the consult with the surgeon and more imaging, so until then, my arm will be in a sling, immobilized.

Now Bittersweet Symphony is on the radio (why does my neighbor listen to all this apropos soft rock?). I am thankful for my one good arm and hopeful that this is the end of bad news before we leave for Vietnam. Now back to my last week at work...

I hate that song. All those things she talks about arent ironic, theyre just unfortunate. The only thing ironic about that song is that it was written by someone who has no idea what irony is.

Anyway, chin up, Barb. Its just 4 short days. Youll work around the shoulder problems until it heals.

Cant wait to see you guys (all three of you)

Seriously. You have a husband to beat, why do this to yourself? Maybe Bruno got a little too rough?

Thanks guys. I'm just feeling overwhelmed with the trip so close and all this crap springing up at the last min. It will be nice to have Gianna with me as I recover :-)

Once you have Gianna you won't care about any thing else... but please remember to take the time to take care of yourself, too! You deserve it! Have a great, safe, happy trip!

I'll wish you a great trip, even though I know it will be amazing. Things seem to accumulate just as life changes, don't they? Hey, it'll make for some great stories one day!

You'll get past it B! Remember your buddy Georgie when you need a random hand or ride or favor in any way. ;)
You'll sit and hug and play just fine with one arm. Its just another bump in the road, and soon you'll have Gianna!!!!
